Malaga Airport

Landing in Malaga

If this is the first time you visit Andalusia and have decided to enter through Malaga airport, this information may be useful.
Malaga airport "Pablo Ruiz Picasso" with IATA code: AGP, is one of the busiest in Spain, along with those of Madrid and Barcelona. It has a large influx in the holiday season, and is a point where several flights cross to Africa, the Middle East and part of Europe.
The airport has three terminals T1, T2, T3, and is recently renovated, is large, spacious and well connected, since it has different means of transport, to be able to go to any point of the province of Malaga where you have decided to stay.
Remember that after disembarking, it can take around twenty minutes to leave the airport, and if you come from outside the EU, you can take more because you will have to go through customs and migration. This is important to warn people who are waiting to pick you up.
After picking up your suitcase (and going through customs and migration if you are coming from outside the EU), you will find a large, high and very clear waiting room, with a barrier on both sides for people waiting to pick up some passenger.
When you go out to the outer esplanade you will find on your right a taxi site, these are white.

Going out to the front there is a restaurant if you want to have a drink and relax while they go to pick you up.
A little further, straight on your left, you will find an outdoor bus stop to get off and pick up passengers who decide to continue their bus trip. These, usually have a route covering the entire coast of the sun, especially the important and most visited points as in the case of the cities of Malaga and Marbella.

A little further to the left and across the street you will find a "Renfe" commuter train heading to the city of Malaga to the "María Zambrano" train station or in the opposite direction to Fuengirola. This means is the most recommended to go to the different intermediate points between Malaga and Fuengirola.
Towards Malaga you will find the following stops: Victoria Kent (Correspondence Line C-2), Guadalhorce and Málaga María Zambrano.
Travel time approx. 8 min.
Towards Fuengirola you will stop at: Plaza Mayor, Los Alamos, La Colina, Torremolinos, Montemar-Alto, El Pinillo, Arroyo de la Miel-Benalmádena, Torremuelle, Carvajal, Torreblanca and Fuengirola. Travel time between the Airport and Fuengirola approx. 34 min.
If you want to rent a car you can also find several Rent Car, which can arrange a rental reservation online previously.
You can also hire a service of transfers and pickups, which are very good and at a good price.
If your trip has been to go and return, and you have a car, you can use the airport parking lot which is not really cheap, but it is very close at hand.
There are several Parking Low Cost services that are much cheaper, which offer different services apart from taking care of your car, while you are on a business or vacation flight. All have take-away and pick-up service, the only condition is that you must arrive with time, although your service is fast, take into account that you have to leave the car and then be taken to the airport, even if it is 5 minutes away.
Malaga Airport is very well conditioned to make a trip without problems.
You are welcome.
If you are going to travel from any point of the province of Malaga, you have to consider the transfer. For example if you are from Marbella by car you can take at least 45 to 50 minutes by the toll highway and if there is no traffic. In summer and during holiday periods, it is usually much slower due to the number of cars arriving on the Costa del Sol, so I recommend that you take at least 120 minutes so that you do not get stressed, remember that you must document the trip your bags, and go through security. If you fly outside the EU, you must go through immigration to have your departure sealed and all that time must be foreseen. Usually airport services have been simplified, but sometimes you have to walk within this long distance to get to one side. I hope these instructions are useful and have a pleasant trip.
